Silly Dream

The other night I had a bunch of disturbing dreams (Josh decided to marry another woman). But in the middle of them all I had a silly dream. Eryka and I were at someone's wedding - it wasn't Josh's. We were late and came in a side door near the front. We wanted to sit near the back so we decided to walk along the side to get there. There was some equipment in the way, but we figured we would just walk around it. As we got near the photographers cases, lights and camera it seemed to be more surmountable than we thought. The couple cases that we would just step over ended up becoming about 20 cases higher than our waists. So here we are, wearing long white flowy dresses - don't ask me - trying to hurdle these cases and not knock over the lights or get in the way of the camera. Soon we were stuck in the most ridiculous position making an enormous scene. The entire bridal party were giving us evil looks and there was nothing we could do about it. Eryka and I just laid there trying to contain our giggles until they stopped the wedding and the photographer helped us get out of all his equipment. I don't remember seeing the end of that wedding.
Anyway, it was a silly dream, but I enjoyed my little adventure with Eryka. I can't wait to see you my dear!

One Great Weekend - told by Charis

I don't know if you read mommy's blog about our weekend, but I wanted to show you some of my weekend fun! And I figure you all like to see pictures of me anyway!
So this one was when I tried sweet potatoes for the first time. They are pretty yummy. Or at least much better than the cauliflower I had last week!

Hurry mommy! We gotta get to Game Night!

Me and daddy unwinding after a fun night

I knew mommy was going to be busy on Saturday
so I helped her get dressed

And this is me helping make the yummy ice cream cake

I had a lot of fun with Nana at her birthday party

It was one great and busy weekend, but now I am ready for a nap

One Great Weekend

We just had one great weekend! On Friday night we had Game Night with the youth group. This month we did some old school Awana Olympics. I was never in Awana ("We are Pioneers for Jesus..."), so I didn't appreciate them quite as much, but it was still fun. Everyone dressed up in their colors - I wore green, with some fabulous socks. It is quite a workout to do those games, or at least that is what Crys and Jordan tell me! I couldn't do everything because I had to hold Charis - Haha!
On Saturday I ran around with my head cut off - grocery shopping, Kati's for invitation making and food prep for mom's birthday. In the evening we hung out with my family and watched Eragon. This is what Josh and I decided about the movie - It stunk, however it could be really awesome if they would have done it properly and not tried to cram it into an hour and a half. We can tell the story is really good and it inspires us to read the books.
Sunday was so fun! Today was my mom's 29th birthday (with a couple anniversaries). Us kids have been planning this lunch for a while. We went to Island Park by Mill Race Inn and had a picnic. We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather. The ground however was like grassy quicksand. So we grilled and ate yummy food. (I made Reese Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Cake and it actually turned out really good!) We then did some short skits of our favorite memories and personality ... quirks... about mom. They were hilarious and she was a really good sport. She is such a great mom to me even though I am now a mom myself. There is much from her that I would like to emmulate to Charis. (***I love you mom!***)
Church had some great worship today and in sunday school we talked about eschatology - always a fun subject. And then Josh was sweet enough to get us Chipotle for dinner while we watched Sweet Home Alabama - go chick flick! I have such a good honey.
So I had a great weekend and I hope you all did too!

Prayer and Wisdom

Hey all, God has recently given Josh and I a lot of opportunites to trust Him (i.e. trials). If you could keep us in your prayers we would really appreciate it.
And here is a praise - we sign the docuemtns to close on our house today and on Wednesday the closing happens. We are just a few days from no longer being homeonwers - yea!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Since I am Irish I will tell you a tale of my St. Patrick's Day Festivities. I woke up to proudly put on a green shirt, deciding I need to buy more green because it makes my eyes really stand out. I then fed the munchkin and worked out. By that time Josh was done with biblestudy with his guys, so I helped him get ready for work. Now understand he works at Bennigans, an Irish Pub, so today is the biggest day of the year for them. He decided to wear green and hairspray his hair and beard red to look like a leprachan (a big leprachan). So I went to work on spraying his head red. Now if he or I had a half a brain we would have done things differently. See Josh's bro Jeremy came over earlier that morning to do the same thing to his head because he works at another Irish Pub, and we offered to Jer to use some of the hairspray we have. If you don't already see where I am going, here is a little more. Josh was also going to be wearing a huge hat that would cover half his head, but regardless I started spraying his head. After his head was done he began to spray his beard... and ran out of hairspray halfway through his beard. If he didn't already look ridiculous, he most certinly did now. (Don't you wish I had a picture to post with all of this?) I told him just grab some more from Walgreens on his way into work. So my big leprachan left and I went about cleaning the house. Half an hour later I get a call from him telling me that Walgreens didn't have anything and he was at work feeling like a freak. So being the good wife I am, I was sent to find him some red hairspray. Thankfully I called around first, because the first six stores I called did not have it. So I arrived at Bennigans with hairspray in hand, saving the day. I also gave him a homemade button that said, "Don't Kiss Me, My Wife's Irish." The rest of the day was spent shopping for five hours, getting four things and eating Taco Bell, not roast beef and cabbage. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

6 Month Photo Shoot

So on Sunday I was playing with my little girl, thinking how beautiful she looked in her denim jumper when I decided to have a photo shoot. I thought the blue in the dress really popped the blue in her eyes. (I can't wait until she is old enough that dressing her in blue won't make people assume she is a boy!) She was in a great mood and it ended up turning out really well. And she got to show off her amazing ability to sit by herself for a prolonged period of time. Enjoy!

The Update ... FINALLY

So we had a wonderful time on vacation. The first couple days were a little cool, but by the end of the week it was in the 70's. We boogie-boarded in the waves, played on wave runners and relaxed on the beach. I didn't get much of a tan because I slathered on the SPF 30, and Charis was coated in SPF 50. Whereas Josh was already burnt and peeling before the week was over. Charis did really well on the 15 hour drive and stuck to her schedule pretty well during the week. She is such a good girl.
While we were down there we celebrated my dad's 49th birthday and Talitha's 21st birthday. (I can't believe my dad is almost 50 and Talitha - all I can say is FINALLY!) It was a lot of fun and we got a lot of hilarious pictures. Enjoy the memories shown below...

I have the Camera Cord

So I have the camera cord, but I don't know where the camera is. I know Josh unpacked it, but I don't know where he placed it. So you do not get adorable pictures of Charis on the beach. And to make matters worse, Josh put the pre-vacation pics of Charis on the computer before we left, but I can't find where he put those either. Since becoming a mom I have been able to find anything I was looking for, but today the "Amazing Mommyness" has failed me. So I have nothing for you today. It is very sad. But just hold to the hope that when it comes, there will be an avalanche of pictures.

(And yes, I used the word "avalanche" because I am now back in the cold climate of Illinois.)

Check out a New Blogger

Hey all - I want you to check out a new blogger. Emily is now living in Guatemala fostering her little girls until they can come home. Check her out at http://onehopeoneheart.blogspot.com. She is down there all by herself, so this is how she will be keeping in touch with family and friends. Keep her in your prayers as she is separated from her hubby Matt until they get to come home.

So long!

I know I stink at posting. I have all these really cute pics of Charis to post, but the camera cord is already packed. Things have been really busy packing for Florida. And since I work today and leave for FL after work I won't be able to leave you with cute baby pics. Oh well, just eagerly anticipate the adorable shots of Charis in her swimsuit when we get back. Have a great week, because I know I will!
